Newsletter for January 2019

Happy New Year! May everyone have a blessed, safe, and healthy new year!

Just a reminder, tuition payments are due by the 7th of each month. The family recital fee of $65 is due by March 7th. The payment should be a separate payment. This will entitle each family to four tickets per show that their child is in. After the ticket distribution is made in June, then extra tickets go on sale the week prior to the recital for $5 cash, or $10 cash at the door (if there are any tickets left).

The Recital this year will be held on June 14th and 15th, and dress rehearsal is on Thursday June 13th, at Patuxent High School. If your child is only taking one class per week, she/he will only be in one of the three recital shows; however, if your child is in multiple classes, she/he may be in two shows. It all depends on how we’re able to schedule the lineup of the shows. We try to put siblings in the same show; but it all depends on how things can be worked out. We try to balance the shows, so that an even number is in each show, to be sure we have adequate seating for the audience, and extra tickets available for sale for each show.

The costumes have been ordered, and we usually start receiving the costumes as early as the end of February, and through mid-April. The costumes arrive at different times since we order from several different costume companies. When the costumes arrive, we will have the room moms notify everyone so that the parents can come into the studio and assist your child in trying on the costume, and to find out how their hair is to be worn, and if any accessories are required. Tights for the recital will be purchased in February; every year your child needs to purchase a new pair of tights, so that all the tights match. More information on this will be in the next newsletter.

The teachers will be working diligently in January – March to finish choreography, so please have your child in class! There will not be any parent-observation in January since we are being persistent with choreography. Thank you for understanding.

Reminder: When schools are closed due to snow, we cancel classes in the evening; if after-school activities are canceled or if schools close early, we cancel evening classes; if schools have a two-hour delay in the morning, we have classes. We follow the St. Mary’s County school closing announcements. In the spring, closer to recital, we’ll have a Saturday time to make up time for snow closings.
