Newsletter for February 2017
The big event for February that the show troupe is sponsoring is the Father-Daughter Valentine Dance on February 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. It's $25 a couple (father and one daughter, and each additional daughter is $5) This includes: appetizers and desserts, a ballroom dance instruction, lots of fun music for dancing, a corsage for the daughter, a professional picture of the 'couple' and some well planned games and activities! Please get your ticket during your child's class time!
Reminders: tuition is due by the 7th of each month; and a late fee of $20 is charged after the 7th. The studio is OPEN on February 20th, which is Presidents Day, and the recital is June 17th at Patuxent High School in Lusby, MD.
As costumes arrive we will let the room mom know and she will inform you so you can come into the class and assist your child to try on the costume.
Spring Break will be April 10-13. We will have class on April 17th.
Picture Week will be May 1-May 4th. We will have a schedule of the approximate time your child's class picture will be. We try to schedule it around the child's class time but with several classes at the same time, we'll need to adjust the time a little bit to avoid a long wait for pictures. We will have Classic Photography taking the pictures. They will have staff on hand to assist you with any purchases you'd like to make. You do not have to purchase any pictures, but we would like for your child to be present because group pictures are taken, and they give the studio a group picture for all the classes. More information will be available shortly. You will be able to 'view' your child's individual picture before you purchase it!
Reminder: Please do not have the children running around the lobby, especially in tap shoes, for safety reasons. Thank you.
The next parent-observation class will be the week of February 27th, the last 15 minutes of class.
It's been a mild winter, but just a reminder that when schools are closed for 'snow' then we cancel classes for the evening. If schools start late, we are open, but if schools close early due to snow, or if after school activities are cancelled due to inclement weather, then we cancel classes. In the spring, closer to recital, we will have a make up time for the kids.
Capitol Movement, a professional dance company from Washington, DC will be performing at the Kennedy Center on February 12th. Jesse Burrows, competitive dancer in the Show Troupe, and assistant teacher, is a member of this professional company. Showtime is 6:00. Admission is free, so arrive early to be sure to get a seat.
